I’ve been on holiday for the majority of the summer which means that some of my routines are a bit (e.g. very!) messed up. I thought a goals post would be a good idea, as it may give me the motivation I need!!
Travelling without parents abroad is rare when you’re a similar age to me (16), but I was lucky enough to do it this summer. Travelling is something I couldn’t live without so, for me, it’s important that I do this as much as possible! There were steps I took so that I was fully prepared, and these could work for you no matter what age you are!
Make sure your bank card is set up
I think this is the most important one, as it means you constantly have access to money! For me, as I have a debit card, I had to set it up with the journey so that I could use my card abroad. It was super quick to do and I’d definitely recommend it, even if you think you’ll have enough cash! Also, if you don’t have a credit card, maybe make sure you have a way of getting money in emergencies, such as someone to transfer money.
Lots and lots of maps
If you’re going to somewhere new (or even somewhere old), you won’t always know where your going. In this case, maps are lifesavers! I had loads saved on my phone , at many different places and a variety of zoom (you can never have too many!!). If you prefer, you could also have a hard copy. Even if you know you can get data, make sure you have a few saved in case it isn’t working (we all know it cuts out when we need it most!).
Airport to Hotel
For me, this was the most stressful bit, as all you want after a long journey is to sit down and drop your bags off. You also don’t want to be stuck with high prices for transfers, if you have a lack of money prepared. I researched it before we left and there’s almost always airport transfers ready or buses!
Photocopies of EVERYTHING
I may have went a bit overboard with this one. I have a habit of losing everything and I don’t even want to think about how much money I’ve spent over the years on lost keys, so I thought this one would come in handy! Luckily I didn’t lose anything, but if I did I would have been prepared! I photocopied the passports, boarding passes, the hotel booking and left copies of my bank card at home! My Mum also had access to all of these as well, just in case! It’s better to be prepared in the first place.
They’ll want a text!
The agreement with my parents was that we’d contact them every night. We tried a few different things out, such as lurking outside Mcdonalds, internet cafes with a much needed coffee until we eventually decided to buy the hotel wifi. Luckily, it was actually really cheap (£1.10 a day!) but you may need to be willing to spend a bit extra to contact people! We decided on FaceTime as our way of talking, as it was our favourite but you also have email, text, Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype!
If you’re going to remember one tip, please please remember this one! Looking down, being on your phone, is going to put you in a vulnerable position and the more aware you are of your surroundings, the less chance you will put yourself in danger.
I hope you liked this post and if you did, make sure you give it a like and are following me! Comment below your favourite place you’ve been before and 1 tip for me to follow when I’m travelling!
Travel. Something I seem to be constantly yattering on about! But it’s something I can’t stop thinking about. It’s a passion I have that means I have trouble controlling my wanderlust. My personality is built up from the journeys I’ve been on. And my adventures this year will be bigger than ever.
I’ve managed to travel to Nantes in France with my sister this year! It was my first trip travelling unsupervised and I loved it so much!
I’m visiting Cyprus with my family for 2 weeks. It will be super nice to get some sun (because the weather in England is always horrible!) and to visit somewhere new.
Also in August, I’m travelling to Meganissi, a tiny Greek island, with my friends and one of their family!
In October, I was take my first trip to Paris (basically my dream). I’m already picturing all the cute cafes and snaps for Instagram I’ll get.
Let me know in the comments or via twitter, which posts you’d like me to do based around these journeys. It can be tips, fashion, photos- I want to do the posts you’d like to see! I hope you enjoyed this post and make sure you give it a like and that you’re following me!
So it’s the time of the year where I seem to forget that I actually need to leave a bit of money in my bank. But with this time of year, comes a large haul!
I was sent a copy of Girl Missing to review and you can find the blog post here. You can buy it online for £6.99.
I was also kindly sent a 60ml bottle of Jojoba oil from Eden’s Semilla and it retails at £10.95 on amazon.
I received a tub of Pristine Mud Mask and if you want to read my review, you can find it here.
I picked up a tub of Coconut Oil. I actually found it in Sainsburys (probably the last place I would have thought to look) and it was very cheap: £2.50 for 500ml. I’m absolutely in love with it so far and it removes makeup like a charm!
For my holiday, I ordered a mini bottle (125ml) of Garnier Micellar water as I love it but my bottle is simply too big to take away.
I grabbed a pack of Simple face wipes when they were reduced because we all have those nights where we are too lazy!
I got the Herbal Essence shampoo in Hello Hydration (a coconut scent) and the conditioner in Nourish me butter. As I purchased two of their products, I also got a free dry shampoo that is 65ml.
I picked up the Palmers Cocoa body scrub, as I’ve just ran out! This again was on offer but is just a summer essential!
I managed to only pick up one makeup item (can I hear the applause please?!) and it was the makeup revolution Baked Highlighter.
I got this pen from Paperchase, which has a cute polka dot pattern all over it. If you haven’t tried paper chase pens before, you need to!!
I got 3 packs of file dividers, 1 from Sainsburys and 2 from paper chase. I definitely prefer the paperchase ones, despite the fact they were the same price!
I got a pack of sticky notes from paperchase, which I love to use when revising!
I got a floral file from Sainburys. I still want 2 more so I’ve you’ve seen any cute ones, please let me know!!
My last item is a Pukka Pad project book which, for me, is just an essential!
I also picked up quite a few clothes. I hate photography them on my blog, but there will definitely be posts on my Instagram so make sure you’re following me on there: beckyxcooke!
I hoped you liked this post and make sure you let me know what you’ve picked up recently in the comments or which products you’re going to buy from the selection I’ve shown you! Give this post a like and share and make sure you’re following me!
I was kindly sent a copy of this book, Girl Missing, to review but all of the opinions are my own. You can find out more about the book here.
Lauren is adopted and eager to know more about her mysterious past. But when she discovers she may have been snatched from her real family as a baby, her whole life suddenly feels like a sham.
Mckenzie aimed this book at young adults and adults, but some of the themes she talks about are more mature. However, she talks about them in a way that will be relatable and understandable for the audience age. I think this is a good thing as it means there is awareness for these issues, as they are very real.
I did think this book is aimed at a younger ya audience, as I am 16 and found it to be an easy read, however it does depend what books you like reading and you could read it as an adult!
I loved Lauren’s character towards the end of the book, as she grew and changed as the book progressed, however her character towards the beginning was very selfish. I think McKenzie may have done this on purpose and it does make you reflect on your own life and you own choices.
Despite the serious topics it covers, it is a very easy read and I would have read it even quicker if I hadn’t constantly been travelling. I would definitely recommend this book and you can buy your own copy from here.
I hoped you liked this post and comment below your opinions if you’ve read it or other books you think I may like.

I received this mask in exchange of an honest review. I can say that I was pleasantly surprised by this product as I thought it would be hard for this product to live up to the price of £18 and it was definitely better than I expected.
One of the things I liked most about this mask is how its 100% organic vegan and cruelty free. In my opinion, that means I would happily dish out more money. When I received it, it was packaged nicely and the packaging of the mask did make the product look more luxurious however I would have preferred to have it in a glass pot. As well as looking luxurious, it felt it too and it managed to clear up my skin after a few days of using it. There was a large amount of product and a little went a long way, so I can easily see this lasting a long time.
I feel like I do need to talk about the negatives of this however, as the price does make it a bit of a bigger decision. One thing I noticed was the smell: it didn’t smell bad but it also wasn’t great. This surprised me as the masks I’ve been using before (from Lush) smelt amazing . They included a second lid to keep the product from leaking however it just ended up making more mess. This isn’t really a problem though as you can just throw it away like I did.
If you’re looking for a mask that dries fully, this one probably isn’t for you. It doesn’t dry fully and is a bit harder than some to get off, but this could be due to the amount I used.
As you can see from my review, the negatives are very minor and the positives easily outweigh it. I am definitely considering repurchasing it!

There’s so many opportunities that will present themselves in your life. And maybe you won’t be able to take all of them, because we never can, but you need to take as many as possible.
Be fearless. Be brave. Don’t let your fears make you hesitate when you come face to face with something amazing. Because every opportunity you take, will lead you on an adventure.
Every adventure starts with some fear, or apprehension. Maybe even just your heart beating faster when you board the plane, or maybe the idea of having to speak a language you’ve never heard before. But every journey has to start somewhere, and it’s highly likely that we’ve all been there.
An adventure can be anything; stepping on a train to a town 15 minutes away or stepping on a plane to a country 12 hours away. And maybe it’s not the journey itself; it could be all the exciting things you do there: from trying the local cuisine to paragliding. An adventure can be defined by you, and you alone.
And sometimes it’s okay to not want to do something. Not everything is right for everybody and if you say no to one adventure, there’ll be another one just down the road.
The most important thing to remember is to have fun! If you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, then it’s not worth it. So pick the stuff you know you’ll enjoy but also be willing to try new things- because you never know what you might think of them!
I hope you enjoyed this post and if you did make sure to like, share and follow. Comment below what adventures you’ve taken.
Travelling is one of my favourite things to do and I get such a sense of joy out of it, that every moment feels sacred. Every journey and step I take is one that will stay with me forever. I spend the whole year waiting for the next place I’ll travel to and spend my own time gazing at places I’ve never been before. And these are symptoms of wanderlust.
Some people don’t understand these feelings and they don’t get how you can miss a place you may have only spent a few days at. They don’t understand the sense of joy I get at boarding a plane and they don’t understand the happiness I feel when experiencing a new culture.
You’ll get to see so many stunning places
There’s only a limited amount of places you can visit when you stay in the same place your whole life. Maybe it’s time to step outside the box and see something new. It’s highly likely that the views you’ll see abroad are so stunning, that a memory will capture them better than a photo ever will.
You’ll meet some amazing people
The people you meet abroad seem to stick with you- maybe it’s because you have something to talk about (the place you’ve been) or maybe it’s because they make the experience even more special. I promise you won’t forget them.
You’ll try so much food
How can I mention travelling without talking about the food?! It is to die for! The food you’ll eat on holiday, you’ll be constantly trying to recreate. It never tastes the same though. Try something different and you won’t regret it!
You’ll learn a lot from it
This is probably one of my favourites bits (yes! even better than the food!). You learn so much from travelling and it makes you respect and appreciate what you have. You’ll grow up in your time away, yet at the same time make so many memories and have so much fun.
If you haven’t tried travelling yet, you need to give it a go! I hope you liked this post and if you’d like more travel related posts, just comment below and like this one! Make sure you send me post suggestions on twitter as well. x
Two of my favourite things together: raspberries and cupcakes. I’m not quite sure how you can get a better cake! This recipe makes 12 large cupcakes, which is the perfect amount for me!
180g Plain Flour
180g Caster Sugar
1tsp Baking Powder
Mix all the ingredients together apart from the raspberries and mix it until it’s all combined. If needed, you can add more milk.
Place 1 spoonful of the mixture into each cupcake case, so that they have roughly half full.
Place 2-3 raspberries in each case and then spoon the remaining mixture into each one, making sure they cover the raspberries.
Place them in the oven at 180C for 15-20 mins. I actually left them in for 30 mins as at 20 mins they still weren’t cooked.
Take them out of the oven and leave them to cool down.
I hope you liked this post and they make the perfect summer treat! If you liked it, remember to give it a like and make sure you’re following me!
